Bruce Pallister of Kelowna, BC, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 23, 2024, at the age of 91 years in Penticton.
He is survived by his children, Janice Carter of Port Alberni, Valerie (Barry) Grant of Penticton, Debra Clare of Kamloops, and Layne (Wendy) Pallister of Kelowna; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Eleanor Young of Ottawa, ON, Keith Pallister of Mount Brydges, ON, and Dennis Pallister of Stratford, ON.
Bruce is sadly predeceased by his parents, Norman and Daisy Pallister; sisters, Norma (Ken) Martin and Shirley (Bruce) Allems; partner of 29 years, Grace Stone; and Jean Pallister.
His love of life and people touched the lives of all who knew him. Bruce and his family traveled across Canada with his wife, Jean, and their 4 children (ages 14, 13, 12, and 6), and pet cat, Misty, hauling a 10-foot Boler travel trailer to arrive in Kelowna in 1969 from St. Marys, ON. Kelowna was the destination to start anew.
Bruce had been a volunteer fireman in St. Marys and soon joined Kelowna Fire Department as a volunteer, then full-time from 1974 – 1992 with the Kelowna Ambulance and Fire Department. He was often referred to as “Ramp” by his fellow workers.
He had a love of camping, softball, golf, curling, and traveling with his partner, Grace, often visiting with family in Ontario and exploring the Maritimes, New Zealand, and throughout many US States.
Bruce was well-loved for his humour and generosity. Always ready to step in and lend a hand.
Grace and Bruce were members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kelowna branch, and did years of volunteer work there.
He is greatly missed yet leaves happy and cherished memories for all.
A special thank you to the team of caring and committed people at the Hamlets at Penticton, a living and long-term care facility.
